< Back MiMedx Hires Dr. Long as Senior ScientistTampa, Fla. — July 27, 2007 — MiMedx, Inc. announces the hiring of Dr. John H. Long, Jr., Professor of Biology at Vassar College, to serve as its Senior Scientist. Trained in biomechanics at Duke University, Dr. Long will assist MiMedx in the Company's core biomaterials research, bioprosthesis development, and R&D infrastructure management. A long-time collaborator of Dr. Thomas Koob, MiMedx's Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Long has expertise in the biomechanical characterization of vertebrate connective tissues and in the modeling of how tendons and ligaments function in association with muscle during complex movements. His laboratory has been funded by the Bioengineering Program of the Office of Naval Research and the Division of Biological Infrastructure at the National Science Foundation. With his experience analyzing and simulating musculo-skeletal systems, Dr. Long will help guide MiMedx in the design of bioprostheses that mimic and extend the mechanical behavior of native tendons and ligaments.
